DESCRIPTION – S39 AIRBAG IMPACT SHORTS
Most serious injuries in a crash often happen from the waist down – hips, thighs, tailbone, knees and shins can take the hit when you meet asphalt. The S39 Airbag Impact Shorts are built exactly for that zone, for Mo’cycle Riders and Impact Sliders who understand that leg safety isn’t optional if you want to keep riding – and moving – for many years. They use the same “S” (SAFEST) chassis as our S51 Adventure Pants, but in a permanently-short cut: the lower-leg sections are gone, while the impact-safety system around your hips, thighs, knees and shins stays.

Think of them as the airbag version of armored riding shorts – made for hot-weather commuting, touring and ADV riding when you still want very high lower-body safety and refuse to ride in casual shorts alone. For Airbag Gliders (riders who use airbags on both upper and lower body), S39 is the natural choice when the temperature rises but your standards for safety stay high.

Our products are made for riders who actually want to come back home after a ride – and for the person who checks their phone until that “I’m home” message arrives.

A NEW FEELING
Riding in S39 with the Mo’cycle® Airbag installed is a very different feeling. Your hips, thighs and tailbone are wrapped in a pressurized air cushion that works together with the impact pads, turning the whole lower-body zone into an integrated safety system instead of just “some padding here and there”.

Knowing the system is designed to help manage impact energy in a more advanced way than foam pads alone, something often shifts in your head – you relax, focus on the ride and feel safer in traffic and on rough surfaces. This is typical Airbag Generation thinking: you still ride the same roads, but you choose gear that takes your legs as seriously as your helmet.

FIT
The S39 chassis is based on the S51 Adventure Pants, tuned for shorts-level ventilation and movement:

• High-rise back & thigh straps – help keep the shorts and airbag positioned correctly if you slide.
• Ventilation ports around the thighs – let heat escape in traffic and on long rides.
• Stretch panels – support natural movement on and off the bike.
• Waist adjustments – allow you to dial in the fit over base layers or under outer shells.
• Multiple pockets – so your essentials ride with you, not only in a backpack.

They feel like robust technical riding shorts – until you need their safety performance. For Mo’cycle Riders and Impact Sliders in warm climates, S39 can easily become the “no excuses” option: cool enough to wear, serious enough to trust.

Airbag & Protection

PROTECTION
Out of the box, the S39 Airbag Impact Shorts provide a combined system of impact safety and abrasion resistance when used with the included airbag and impact protectors:

• Integrated Mo’cycle® Airbag Module – CE-certified to PAC-002:12/2024 and EN 17092-4:2020 (Class A) when used as part of the certified garment system.
• AAA-rated Armalith® motorcycle denim – a single-layer denim engineered for real slides (CE EN 17092-2:2020).
• KNOX Micro-Lock impact protectors:
o 2 × hip protectors – CE EN 1621-1:2012, H Type A, Level 1.
o 2 × knee/shin protectors – CE EN 1621-1:2012, K/L Type B, Level 2.

Inside the shorts is the Mo’cycle® airbag. When the module is installed and the tether is correctly attached, you clip in before riding and the system is armed.

If you separate from the bike with sufficient force in a crash scenario, the tether pulls the mechanical trigger, activating the CO₂ cartridge. The airbag inflates in milliseconds and forms a pressurized cushion of air around your hips, thighs and tailbone, designed to work together with the hip and knee/shin impact protectors. Impact energy is then managed by both air and armor rather than being transmitted directly to the body.

We start production from the very beginning: spinning thread, preparing materials, and building the fabric that combines cotton with UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene) fibers for extreme abrasion performance. Then comes the airbag manufacturing, assembly, testing and CE-related processes.

This is a multi-step build. We are not Amazon.

RELOAD & RIDE AGAIN

The Mo’cycle® airbag module is reusable, provided it remains structurally intact after a crash. The airbag itself is designed to withstand one real-world crash.

The CO₂ cartridge is the consumable part; If you have been in a high-speed crash, replace the complete airbag system. If the crash was a minor incident at low-speed with no visible damage to the airbag, cartridge area, fabric or stitching, carefully inspect it – test inflate with a spare cartridge and inspect the airbag while inflated as well. When in doubt, treat it as a high-speed crash and replace the full airbag system anyway.

Inspect the garment and airbag - Check that nothing is broken, torn or heavily abraded, test inflate and inspect as well.
Replace the spent CO₂ cartridge - Use a new cartridge of the correct size.

Re-arm the trigger - Follow the instructions for your model.
Clip back in and you are ready for the next ride.

Mo’cycle designed and invented the lower-body airbag module. To manufacture it at the level a life-saving device demands, we partnered with Helite in France, a specialist airbag company with R&D, labs, manufacturing, and quality control based in Dijon, France.

Mo’cycle invention - Helite production: we own the design; Helite manufactures it for us.
Made in France & final quality control in Sweden: Helite finalizes the airbag module in France with quality controls before sending it to us in Sweden for final quality checks.
